I'm so glad your here!
My goal is to
- gather original pins by independent artists in one place where pin enthusiasts and collectors can discover them and connect with their creators.

- create a pop culture archive of this amazing art form to inform future generations of this golden age of pins.
- provide documentation for this highly collectible art.
- verify creators and pin details to help collectors avoid knockoffs and deter art theft.

I am a Librarian, graphic designer and pin enthusiast. Working on this database aligned with my skills and interests. As a Librarian I have a desire to collect and catalog information and make it publicly accessible. As a designer I have experience designing websites and a strong desire to make everything pretty. Those skills coupled with my *cough* enamel pin addiction *cough* spawned the Indie Pin Database.
Why a database of pins specifically for independent artists?

I tried to find a database of pins to get more information about the pins I collect, however the few databases I found were focused on pins created by Disney, developed by their vibrant pin trading community, and an old database that used to collect Olympic pins. I was frustrated that no one had made a pin database for all of the amazing pins by independent artists. And then I realized that I could create a database to fill that void. So I started building this database.

With your help, whether you are a pin creator or pin collector, we can build a robust collection of pins and add value to an already thriving pin community. To add pins to this database use the pin submission forms in the navigation bar.
